Congratulations to AMIS Doctoral Student, Houfu Jiang, for Winning the First Place in SPIE Smart Structures & NDE Best Student Paper Award
In March 2025, the SPIE Conference of Smart Structures and Non-Destructive Evaluation was held in Vancouver, Canada. AMIS doctoral student Houfu Jiang published his paper and delivered an oral presentation at the conference, introducing his recent research on structural health monitoring of composite materials. He proposed a novel damage detection method based on nonlinear guided wave path interactions, which utilized nonlinear characteristic responses and a weighted imaging algorithm to locate and image damage in composite laminate panels. A total 13 students from various countries and regions participated in the Best Student Paper competition. There were two rounds of rigorous evaluations, with the first round being a double-blind review of papers and the second round being oral presentations and defenses. After strict evaluation and fierce competition, Houfu Jiang’s paper stood out and won the first place of the Best Student Paper Award.
