AMIS Members Awarded at 2025 China Conference on Structural Health Monitoring Technology!

In November 2025, the 2025 China Conference on Structural Health Monitoring Technology was held in Tongling City, Anhui Province. Shulong Zhou, Hexuan Xu, and Shuai Zhou from the AMIS lab participated in the student competition and received awards!

AMIS student, Shulong Zhou, delivered an oral presentation about his recent research progress on directional piezoelectric composite material sensors. Addressing the challenges of system complexity and data redundancy in traditional guided wave monitoring techniques, his research innovatively designed a novel sensor that couples radial piezoelectric fibers with spiral electrodes. Leveraging the intrinsic frequency-dependent spatial filtering effect, the sensor enables efficient and high-precision localization of structural impact events. The presentation systematically demonstrated the complete research process from numerical modeling to experimental validation, garnering attention for its unique approach and broad engineering application prospects.  AMIS student, Shuai Zhou, delivered an oral presentation at the conference about his latest research progress on damage imaging of composite materials based on nonlinear ultrasonic guided-wave time reversal. To tackle the anisotropic nature of composite materials and the inherent instrumental nonlinear interference in detecting micro-cracks, the research introduced an innovative modal conversion strategy. By integrating multiple damage imaging and localization techniques, the study achieved efficient impact detection of incipient damage in composite structures, providing a valuable methodological guidance for micro-damage localization. The competition for the Best Student Presentation Award was highly intense, with 75 participants from across the country. After strict evaluation and fierce competition, Shulong Zhou and Shuai Zhou were both honored with the first place of the best student presentation award.

AMIS student, Hexuan Xu, participated in the poster competition and presented his recent research progress on elastic metamaterial. This corresponding study proposed an elastic metamaterial diode that incorporates asymmetric defects and symmetric local resonant units, allowing for the control of asymmetric transmission in a single Lamb mode and thereby offering a novel method for structural health monitoring and nondestructive testing. After strict evaluation and fierce competition, Hexuan Xu ’s poster stood out and won the first place of the best student poster award.
